Blog templates

I have a question for you all. What do you think of my blog template? Those of you who've been around for a while will remember the bright green sunflower theme I had going on before. This change was me trying to reflect the mood of my novel.

Skinwalkers is darker, moodier than anything I've written before. Plus it's set in the high desert of northern Arizona. All in all, I think this template is a good match.

I do like it. I like the atmosphere it conveys. I like the tree. But I wonder about the black background. Does it bother you? I have a hard time reading white on black, but this green on black doesn't bother me so much. How about you?

I haven't found anything I like more, but if you all scream that you can't read because of the darkness, I'll start hunting again. I wish I was technical enough to make my own, but I'm not.

Hope you're all having a fantastic Saturday. It's raining here. Yay! We get so little that it's cause for celebration every time a drop falls from the sky.

Don't forget about the contest!

The white on black is SO hard to read. I feel like the words are laughing at me, "Just try to read me.."

Your green works MUCH better. I like your background, especially if it's what reflects your current WIP...

I read most of my blog posts in Google Reader, so it makes no difference to me. I like your template, though.

I agree with the white on black. I can't read sights that well if the background doesn't have some type of color.

I love your new template! I'm thinking of changing mine. Does anyone know of any good template sites?

I like the template. It doesn't bother me at all. =]

I think it looks nice. I find any color on black difficult to read but that's just my poor eyesight talking.

I love it. :) The blog I write for my family has a black background. I like the simplicity of it.

I love your template. Very artsy. White on black has never been much of a problem for me to read, but I do prefer colored fonts on those darker backgrounds. I just think it looks prettier.

@Tiffany - Thanks. I think the green/blue works better too. :)

@Karen, I do some Google Reader too. Makes it quick!

@Noelle, the link to the template creator of this one is at the very bottom of the blog. Otherwise, I pretty much just Googled "free blogger template." There's quite a bit out there. If I find any good sites, I'll send them to you.

@LT, Thanks!

@Ann, I understand.

@Dangerous, Thanks!

@Sydnee, I agree. I love to see colors on black.

I like the template. I agree with the others--white on black writing makes me crazy, but this green is a bit easier on the eyes.

I love your template. You're right, it does evoke a kind of darker mood...but I like that. The green on black doesn't bother my eyes at all.

I like it. It's very easy on the eyes, which a lot of dark blogs with brighter fonts can't boast. I also like the tree. I think your template's good all around.

I too read most of my blogs with Google reader, but the layout of your blog template is nice. The green on black is hard for me to read, but like I said, it's not usually a problem.

Have a great weekend!

It's not a problem for me. I love black backgrounds. :)

And I have to say I'm so jealous that you're getting rain again. Almost no rain in 2009 and as soon as I leave it won't stop. I miss the AZ rain. :( But I'm glad you're finally getting some. It was really needed down there.

Noelle: Check out http://btemplates.com/ There's a ton of templates there. :)

I don't mind the black background-- my blog is black with green writing! I do like your template, the picture at the top is very nice. However, I read all of my blogs in Google Reader and I only click through to comment, so it wouldn't really bother me even if you did have white on black!

A couple "black" blogs drive me nuts. I see spots when I stop reading and look away fom their page.
I guess it is the color of the writing that makes all the difference because your green writing doesn't bother my eyes.
I like it!

I could get through this post because it was short, but if I had to read a lot, it might be more difficult. It's definitely better than white on black. But the overall design of your blog is striking.

I like the green, but I don't remember the white bothering me. The dark mysterious trees and background are perfect.

I like it just fine, though I didn't see your old one! Thanks for finding me on my blog. I see we share a few bloggy pals as well.

I didn't see your old one either, but I definitely prefer the green type too. I like the dark look.

I like your blog! Pretty! If you wanted to try to change it, a lighter shade of this green, or white with some transparency to see a bit of your background could fit in nicely, too. Just for the middle column, so it doesn't disrupt the darker mood. And it could make your posts pop out a bit from the sidebars.

As far as black backgrounds go, this green is very readable, though!

Love it - very nice! Love the green and black ;o)

I love the trees too. And the black background doesn't bother me, but I think it helps that the text isn't white. Thanks for coming to my new blog!

I like your template! Also, I left you something on my blog. :)

I like the theme. I've seen people with dark background make their text larger and that seems to make everyone happy.

I quite like your blog template, actually. You've given me some perspective, as I'm going to be changing my template soon. However, I wasn't really thinking about matching the template to the "mood" of the novel I'm writing...that's a really good point, though.

All-in-all, I think your template is lovely--easy on the eyes (agreed re: green on black vs. white on black) and simple.

I'm not a big fan of black backgrounds, but when i'm actually reading blogs with them they don't atually seem to bother me, so it must just be a baseless bias

I read in bloglines, then click over to comment - so it doesn't bother me. Love the design. :)
