I seem to have become a once-a-week blogger. Not by any conscious decision or anything. I think that's about the length of time when the guilt really sets in and I tell myself I cannot neglect the poor blog any longer. But with absence comes lack of topics. I am a firm believer in the writing muscle. Work it and it gets stronger, more refined. Let it languish and it deteriorates and has to be rebuilt.
I think the same goes for blogging. It is writing after all. I've discovered that the more I blog, the more ideas I have. And vice versa. Hence the lack of posts lately.
I'm convinced my schedule will not ease until school's out, but I'm hoping to recover a bit of blogging time where I can.
The writing continues. I opened the Word document again today. For the past 5 weeks I've been marking up the pages I'd printed, but now it was time to crank through the end. I'm almost there. I got through the scene that has been plaguing me for months. I actually edited the entire manuscript to delay having to tackle this scene. But it's finished! Yay! Onward to the end. I can feel the words churning in me, ready to flow from my fingers onto the page. Now I just need to stop sleeping in order to accomplish it. ;)
Happy Friday, all. I'm off!

Sleep is overrated anyway! :)
Our spring months are always the craziest. It's hard to get anything done other than just making it through all the end-of-the-school-year obligations!
And I agree that the longer you don't write, the easier it is to not write. Blogs, books, whatever. My muscles want to be weak. :)
It's okay to post once a week if that's your schedule. But you're right about having more to say the more you blog. (and vice versa) Either way, I'll stay tuned because I've always liked your page.
"Now I just need to stop sleeping in order to accomplish it."
It's worked for me so far. Once you start hallucinating from lack of sleep you get some really great story ideas.... :)
I'm glad you still visit us at lesat!!!
Life gets in the way, we'll be here when you get back :)
yeah, I kept saying I was on hiatus, and then I realized I was going on hiatus every few days, and finally just sucked it up to realize I'm a once-a-week blogger too. Ah well. You can only do what you can do. I blog when something comes to me. I'm so random that way.
Good luck on crossing that finish line! Almost there, chica!
P.S. Love the new profile pic!
Also wanted to mention you'll find an award waiting for you in my Monday morning post.
Once a week sounds good - especially with all that editing. Go Anissa!
Whoo hoo! Good luck pushing through to the end!
I found the same thing with blogging. When I was only planning to post twice a week, I started getting awards, so I'd have to post for that. And don't forget all those cool contests out in the blogosphere. Then I decided to do book reviews once a week. Oh then there was cool links friday. And before I knew it, I was blogging almost everyday (minus the weekends).
Only now I need more time to work on my wip. :D
Hey, life happens. :) I've been pretty absent from the blog world lately, too, things have just been too busy at the Real Job and with Life Stuff. :) At least you've been hard at work on your novel... wish I could say the same. Can't wait to hear as you get ready to cross the finish line!
I know lots of people who have a blogging schedule. It keeps their readers happy. But I just can't seem to do it. I've got enough stress.
I'm totally considering once a week blogging too. It would be easier to blog if I didn't need so much time for writing. Hmm...
I keep thinking skipping sleep sounds both good and really, really bad. It's unfortunate that the things our souls need the most (writing and quiet time) are the first to get shoved into the remaining moments of our harried days. Good luck getting those moments.
DOn't sweat it. I think everyone has slowed down. We do have lives to take care of too. I have cut back some to work on my baby.
Including my sleep.
I love this line:
"I actually edited the entire manuscript to delay having to tackle this scene."
I had a scene like that--I don't know why it was so hard, but it stopped me for a while, so I just skipped ahead until I could face slogging through it. I still feel a huge sense of dread months later whenever I re-read that scene with the stupid peanut butter sandwich.
good luck with your rewrite. keep on pushing.
I am with you on the blogging. The more I do it, the more I have to say. Let it lapse a bit and it all disappears.
Good luck with the ending. Sounds like you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Yeah!
Look at all that progress you're making! It's just awesome. And what I love the most is that you sound so inspired. That's just great :)
Your new profile pic is beautiful! Love it.
Happy Mother's Day yesterday, and the end of the school year is almost here, yay!
blogging helps me get started writing too!
I blog once a week too -- at least, at my writing blog. It reflects how often I have things to say about my writing. At Debuts & Reviews, I post much more often.
I think once a week is a good frequency for a blog on writing.
I miss you!
Love the pic, too.
Congrats on being so close to the end! Judging by the date I'm sure you've finished by now though! Very nice blog. :)
I hopped over here from Crystal's blog. It's always nice to see what another aspiring author is learning. Have a great day!
No sleep. No muse. At least thats the way for me. Hope your novel becomes a bestseller, Roland
Once I week? In the past few months I've been posting...once a month. ^^; I think the ability to post at least once a week is good. :3
Nothing wrong with being a once-a-week poster... just don't abandon us entirely! :)
